Maximising Performance

Performance management for team excellence

Reasons for attending this programme

Do you worry that you’re ‘over-managing’ and feel too directive or heavy handed?  Or perhaps you feel that you need to show a bit more control of your team? Would you like your team members to take more responsibility for improving their own performance?  Do you sometimes worry about discussing performance issues with staff?

There is greater emphasis in the new inspection framework on linking performance and compensation decisions. Whether you manage one person or a whole team, managing individual performance, aligned to business objectives, is key to success.  But often it’s difficult to do.  Time pressures, unclear goals and expectations, differing perceptions and concerns over challenging conversations can often lead to this area being neglected until minor concerns become big issues.  This course will enable you to take control, manage problems promptly and tap into the potential of all your team members.

What this training is about
This programme identifies the most common difficulties managers have in dealing with day-to-day performance issues, whether they’re related to attitude, behaviour or capability. Taking a clear, structured approach to managing performance, you’ll learn how to clarify expectations, how to identify performance gaps and what needs to happen to remove unproductive behaviours and maximise performance.  Key coaching skills, including giving effective feedback, asking for input, listening, reinforcing effective behaviour and redirecting ineffective behaviour are all covered. You will consider a structured and systematic approach to handling difficult discussions confidently and explore ways to keep good staff motivated and working at their best.

During this programme you will learn:

  • A structured approach to managing day-today performance
  • How to set goals, objectives and expectations that are meaningful
  • How to ensure KPIs are central to all decisions
  • How to identify and communicate performance expectations
  • How to accurately assess individual performance levels
  • Identifying performance gaps and the reasons why
  • How to manage unproductive behaviours quickly and appropriately
  • The use and value of coaching to maximise employee performance
  • Key coaching skills for both improvement and development
  • Handling difficult conversations confidently

  • This course has been worth every penny. Fast doesn’t mean lacking in quality. The sheer tonnage of information is astonishing. It’s so worth it. You will learn a lot even if you are a very experienced teacher and you will enjoy it
    Dr Sharon Ney

  • It doesn’t matter how experience you are, go for it. The training was the most magic. Teaching must go over to learning and we in school have to take responsibility for that. I will use this in my work as a consultant helping schools to improve. Many many thanks for a great course.
    Anita Svennson,Swedish Educational consultant

  • This was loads of fun and I loved it. Fun and interactive ways of learning and how to apply that to teaching. Some may think that its only for teachers but we are all teachers in different areas. This course totally surpassed my expectations and all my goals were achieved. Creative teaching makes you want to teach. I highly recommend it so that more good teachers equal more confident kids. Just do it!
