Making a step change in the Lesson Observation processes

A practical approach to revitalising lesson observation to drive improvement

Reasons for attending the programme
The emphasis of the next inspection cycle is on assessing the quality of teaching and learning with an expectation that all teachers will be performing to a good or outstanding standard. This will be a major challenge for many colleges in a context of rising national standards. A cultural change is required to achieve outstanding and a major shift in ownership and responsibility to teams and individual teachers for the quality of teaching and learning.

What is the training about?
The day will provide insight into the new inspection process and the role of managers, teachers and students. It will challenge thinking to revise and sharpen current lesson observation processes and escalate improvement and to move away from the annual observation cycle. The focus will be on the totality of the quality of the students’ experience over a week, a month and their entire course because this is in reality what so often underpins student success.

During this programme you learn:

  • About the new common inspection framework
  • To consider the impact on your organisation
  • To review and reconsider current lesson observation processes
  • To focus on the whole student learning experience

Impact

  • You will be well prepared for the next inspection cycle
  • Increase the effectiveness  and efficiency of lesson observation
  • Improve the quality of teaching and learning

  • This course has been worth every penny. Fast doesn’t mean lacking in quality. The sheer tonnage of information is astonishing. It’s so worth it. You will learn a lot even if you are a very experienced teacher and you will enjoy it
    Dr Sharon Ney

  • It doesn’t matter how experience you are, go for it. The training was the most magic. Teaching must go over to learning and we in school have to take responsibility for that. I will use this in my work as a consultant helping schools to improve. Many many thanks for a great course.
    Anita Svennson,Swedish Educational consultant

  • This was loads of fun and I loved it. Fun and interactive ways of learning and how to apply that to teaching. Some may think that its only for teachers but we are all teachers in different areas. This course totally surpassed my expectations and all my goals were achieved. Creative teaching makes you want to teach. I highly recommend it so that more good teachers equal more confident kids. Just do it!
