Tutoring Skills for Personal Tutors, Student Mentors and Coaches and LSAs with a tutoring role
Reasons for attending this programme:
Tutoring is and essential function for staff in Education and can mean the difference between success and achievement or ‘drop out’ and failure for the student. The introduction of ILPs and Target Setting, the increase in 14 – 16 age group, Tutorial observation and inspection, require even higher skill levels from tutors. Increased pressure on staff time and resources means that the limited time available for tutoring must be used effectively to ensure student success.
What is the training about?
This training provides tutors and mentors with practical skills and strategies to implement immediately with their students. You learn how to balance the ‘soft skills’ of relationship building with the ‘hard skills’ of target setting and effective learning and behaviour management. By improving your communication skills and learning some easy to use models for guiding session increases the effectiveness of each session and brings the learners on board with the process of change and performance.
