Tutoring Skills for Personal Tutors, Student Mentors and Coaches and LSAs with a tutoring role

Reasons for attending this programme:
Tutoring is and essential function for staff in Education and can mean the difference between success and achievement or ‘drop out’ and failure for the student.  The introduction of ILPs and Target Setting, the increase in 14 – 16 age group, Tutorial observation and inspection, require even higher skill levels from tutors. Increased pressure on staff time and resources means that the limited time available for tutoring must be used effectively to ensure student success.
What is the training about?
This training provides tutors and mentors with practical skills and strategies to implement immediately with their students.  You learn how to balance the ‘soft skills’ of relationship building with the ‘hard skills’ of target setting and effective learning and behaviour management.   By improving your communication skills and learning some easy to use models for guiding session increases the effectiveness of each session and brings the learners on board with the process of change and performance.

During this programme you learn;

  • How to build rapport and relationships quickly
  • 2 models for managing performance and behaviour
  • How to identify ways to change negative and unhelpful beliefs your students may have.
  • How to use language to get better results from your learners
  • Strategies for overcoming resistance to change

  • This course has been worth every penny. Fast doesn’t mean lacking in quality. The sheer tonnage of information is astonishing. It’s so worth it. You will learn a lot even if you are a very experienced teacher and you will enjoy it

  • It doesn’t matter how experience you are, go for it. The training was the most magic. Teaching must go over to learning and we in school have to take responsibility for that. I will use this in my work as a consultant helping schools to improve. Many many thanks for a great course.

  • This was loads of fun and I loved it. Fun and interactive ways of learning and how to apply that to teaching. Some may think that its only for teachers but we are all teachers in different areas. This course totally surpassed my expectations and all my goals were achieved. Creative teaching makes you want to teach. I highly recommend it so that more good teachers equal more confident kids. Just do it!
