The ABC of Differentiation in the Classroom

Dispelling the myths and making it easier

Reasons for attending this programme:
Do you have a wide range of abilities and learning styles? And you have to plan and evidence differentiation taking place throughout every session plan and scheme of work?
You need to find strategies and approaches to make sure that differentiation works easily and effectively for everyone, students and teachers.

What is this training about?
Effective learning takes place when the learner uses the most effective learning strategies to learn something they need to learn, at the time they need to. Differentiation takes place meaningfully when there is a good match between teaching and learning strategies used. The individual student’s needs are met at that moment; differentiation takes place and empowers learners to achieve great results. Differentiation gives fantastic opportunities for students to think for themselves, raise issues of concern, deepen their understanding and work at full capacity. It creates an environment where learning is personal and students are motivated and inspired to achieve their best.

During this programme you learn:

  • What is differentiation (and what it is not!)
  • How to achieve differentiation
  • Where and when differentiation occurs
  • To use a variety of strategies that both challenge and support students in the way they need
  • How you can help other staff to adapt their approach
  • To build confidence in planning lessons, writing schemes of work that show evidence of differentiated teaching and learning

Impact

  • You have a clear understanding of the what and the how of differentiation
  • You can plan for and show evidence of differentiation in lesson plans and schemes of work
  • Students are engaged through a variety of approaches and strategies that differentiate to meet their learning needs
  • Students are more motivated and inspired to achieve their best

  • This course has been worth every penny. Fast doesn’t mean lacking in quality. The sheer tonnage of information is astonishing. It’s so worth it. You will learn a lot even if you are a very experienced teacher and you will enjoy it

  • It doesn’t matter how experience you are, go for it. The training was the most magic. Teaching must go over to learning and we in school have to take responsibility for that. I will use this in my work as a consultant helping schools to improve. Many many thanks for a great course.

  • This was loads of fun and I loved it. Fun and interactive ways of learning and how to apply that to teaching. Some may think that its only for teachers but we are all teachers in different areas. This course totally surpassed my expectations and all my goals were achieved. Creative teaching makes you want to teach. I highly recommend it so that more good teachers equal more confident kids. Just do it!
