Assessment FOR Learning
Practical strategies for making judgements that raise achievement
Reasons for attending this programme:
Would it be easier if your learners were expert in making judgements about what they know and understand now, where they want to go and what they need to do to get there? Being better equipped to make judgements about their own learning motivates them to be more reflective and move easily and effectively through the whole learning cycle to achieve success.
Assessment for Learning is explicitly designed to promote learning and is the single most powerful tool we have for both raising standards and empowering lifelong learners.
What is this training about?
Assessment for learning provides insight into learning for both students and tutors. It promotes success for all, supports the target-setting process and enables continuous reflection on what is known now and what they need to know next. It measures what is valued, promotes immediate intervention and links judgements to learning intentions. It raises standards by taking students to the ‘edges of capability’.
During this programme you learn:
- How Assessment for Learning (AfL) compares with Assessment of Learning
- The ten principles that underlie AfL
- Classroom strategies and techniques that deliver AfL
- How this effective tool can be utilised within your learning environments
- To embed, reinforce and personalise learning
Impact
- Students engage in reflection and judgement of themselves and their learning, that is continuous, easy and fun
- Students are motivated and successful by understanding the assessment criteria
